PLEDGE 1%

SUPER MESSENGER IN PLEDGEThis week the Super messenger team hung a post about joining Pledge 1 program in its blog. Initiated by Marc Benioff, the Salesforce.com creator, this charity program allows a company/person to pledge to give away 1% of what they have – money, time, product – for the needs of young, homeless people, invalids or Africa dwellers, their choice is unlimited.

The team behind Super messaging app says that way before they chose to sign on to Pledge 1, they allocated of at least 1% of their time for completing social projects on a quarterly basis. So, consequently, joining Pledge 1 and adding the title of the program to the messenger’s website was simply a logical outcome.

1% of Super working time is one work day once every three months

At Super they calculated that 1% of working time is one work day once every three months. On that day last year the staff planted trees with Friends of the Urban Forest organization, cleaned SROs along with DISH Network, and helped Circle The Schools in partnership with Presidio Middle School.

Further plans include cleaning San Francisco beaches and trimming trees. Since the folks at Super believe it’s not enough, anyone who knows what socially useful and good stuff can be done in San Francisco, can e-mail them at feedback@super.me (the address can be found on the website).
