Kik messenger loves its users, it follows trends and does its utmost to present them with curious new features. The other day, Kik added another new option – now you can send gif-images in the app.
The messaging app has partnered with Riffsy GIF Keyboard and now Kik users have access to thousands of cool gifs. From now on, you can send gif-images as part of your text messages. To do that, just open the media tray, tap ‘+’ and select the gif that you want.
Kik decided to take advantage of gifs to make user Kik experience more vivid and emotional. Very often users are too short of time to describe their current emotional state or mood. In this particular case, a gif-picture will be able to replace a thousand words. Now in Kik you can find dancers, famous actors, performers and cartoon characters.
Sometimes users face an issue of gif-files taking up too much memory space, thus slowing down their devices. The Kik development team handled this problem by implementing a special compression system and a system that is able to display a large number of gifs at once.
