Instagram gets a new look

Today, the popular photo and video sharing app Instagram launched its new design. Upon downloading the update you will see the new icon and changes to the app’s interface.

“Inspired by the previous app icon, the new one represents a simpler camera and the rainbow lives on in gradient form,” the app wrote in its blog.

Instagram’s other creative apps, including Layout, Boomerang and Hyperlapse, now also have new icons – a white icon background with the logos in the middle and a simple design featuring the colors.

Following a test period AppMess wrote about last week, the app made its black-and-white interface available for all with the latest update. “We’ve also refreshed the user interface with a simpler, more consistent design. We stripped the color and noise from surfaces where people’s content should take center stage, and boosted color on other surfaces like sign up flows and home screens,” Instagram wrote, saying that no changes have been made to the way you navigate the app.

The updates are available both for iOS and Android.
