Data security has become a hot topic in the world of developing technologies. Messaging apps are keeping up with the trend; they are on the cutting edge of developing and spreading anonymity around the world. If you feel doubt as to which messenger app to choose for secure corresponding, take advice of Edward Snowden.
Yesterday, the former NSA US employee Edward Snowden shared in his Twitter what messenger he believes to be trustworthy.
“I user Signal every day,” wrote Snowden in his tweet.
Signal is a messaging app that provides a secure exchange of messages, photos and files. It also lets you place calls.
The new messenger was developed by Open Whisper Systems. Previously, it created TextSecure and RedPhone apps. TextSecure prevents messages from being intercepted. RedPhone is intended to prevent your calls from being tapped. Signal offers both of these features. The messenger uses end-to-end encryption, which prevents even the creators of Signal from reading the messages.
Signal is available for download for Android and iOS. Trust other people’s advice but do not forget to check it yourself!
