Facebook users have faced many difficulties on many occasions when dealing with strangers. In the past, if you wanted to message a Facebook stranger, who you stumbled upon when surfing the social media, your text would be delivered to the “Other” inbox. You could easily miss something or someone important, because you didn’t notice that something was added to a folder that you didn’t know existed. Nevertheless, Facebook Messenger came to the rescue.
The social network is launching a new feature for its communication app — “Message Requests”. This function lets you decide who can contact you.
Now, you’ll be notified if you get a message from a stranger or someone who’s not in your friend list. It is completely up to you to choose whose request you want to accept and who gets the boot. You’ll get the following info on these so-called strangers — name, city, mutual friends. If you feel that you want to continue communicating with a person, press “Add Friend”. However, if you hope to never hear from this person again – do nothing and he/she will never know you read their message.
Message requests are actually requests to join chats. The update allows users to use Facebook Messenger to make new friends and business associates.
