LINE Update To Allow Android Users To Add Friends Sans Phonebook

Starting today, thanks to the release of version 5.6.0, Android users will be able to experience the new improvements first hand, one of which is a simple, yet fast way of adding friends to your contact list.

The update makes it possible to search for and add friends using only their phone numbers. LINE no longer requires telephone numbers to be linked to user phone directories. Just enter the phone number into the messenger to add a contact. Of course, some restrictions have been made in order to guarantee user privacy. You can only add phone numbers of registered LINE users or of people, whose setting options allow them to be added to contact lists (this option is enabled in the new version by default).

In order to prevent the abuse of the new feature, LINE also set a limit on the number of added contacts per a certain period of time, blocking those who abuse the innovation.

The update also includes user profile IDs and the addition of “Friend Recommendations” to the Friends menu.
