Instagram is adding a translation button to the service. “In the coming month, you’ll see a translation button on feed stories and profile bios written in languages different from your own. The Instagram community has grown faster and become more global than we ever imagined. And we’re excited that you’ll soon be able to understand the full story of a moment, no matter what language you speak,” wrote the company on its blog. Considering the worldwide geography of the app’s users, this looks like a very timely addition.
The social network is also rolling out “Picked for You” channels in its Explore section featuring videos grouped by a user’s favorite topics and interests. “The total time people spent watching video on Instagram increased 150 percent over the past six months. As video continues to grow, we’re adding new channels to Explore to make it easier for you to discover videos you’ll enjoy,” says Instagram.
The update to Explore is currently only available in the US and will be rolling out globally soon. The translation button is rolling out over the next month.
