Twitter is trying improve your experience of searching new friends on the app. “Finding new accounts to follow used to require jumping through a few hoops and a dash of luck,” according to Twitter. The company today introduced a new update with Connect tab in place of the ‘Who to follow’ option in an attempt to make search more relevant.
The new option appears in the top left corner of the app and now takes into account the people you already follow, Tweets you like, popular accounts in your area, what’s happening in the world right now and more. Twitter also explains why it is making recommendations. The company promises to refine the new feature over time to make the search even better.
Furthermore, the Connect tab provides you with an option to automatically sync your address book, thus making it easier to connect with your friends and family. So if someone from your address book joins Twitter, you will get a corresponding notification.
The new feature is rolling out for iOS and Android. In order to see it, you need to update your app and you will see a blue prompt introducing the Connect.
