«I HAVE NO F-KING IDEA WHY SLACK EXPLODED, TO BE HONEST” — SLACK CO-FOUNDER, STEWART BUTTERFIELD, TOLD JOURNALIST AT THE DLD CONFERENCE.
A graph demonstrating the growth rate of Slack, a corporate messenger, was released not too long ago, presenting some impressive results, to say the least. We’ll go into that a bit later. Slack was designed to support group and team communication. A fact that really impresses office workers, whose correspondence is often in a state of complete chaos. Moreover, Slack has fully integrated Dropbox and Youtube, increasing the potential for all kinds of meetings and brainstorming sessions.
Now, as far as high-profile indicators go – as of 14 February last year, that is, since the launch of Slack, the company has managed to grow from 4 to 32 thousand users within one week. Currently, Slack’s overall growth rate is about 5% weekly. Today the startup is estimated at $1.2 billion. The messenger has strong competition, namely HipChat, Kato, and, regardless of this fact, its market weight continues on increasing.
